Frequently Asked Questions

UN peacekeepers are eligible for terminal leave when separating from active duty, retiring, or transitioning between mission assignments. You must have accrued leave time available and receive approval from your mission commander. Terminal leave allows you to use up to 60 days of saved leave while maintaining full pay and benefits.
When your terminal leave ends, your active duty status officially terminates, and you transition to civilian status or your next assignment. You'll receive final pay, separation documents, and any applicable separation benefits.
Submit UN Form 31 (Request and Authority for Leave) to your immediate supervisor at least 30 days before your intended leave start date. Include your separation date, requested leave dates, and current leave balance. Start the process early to ensure proper coordination and approval.
